Never have to worry about fire or actual burns with this, it is hot to the touch but not really enough to burn your hand. Now I have it in my office and it works great. You are supposed to install this on an internal wall (because its cold outside of an external wall making it work harder) but the only wall I have in here is a wall to the outside but it still works just fine. Wish I had one in every room of my house. Only downfall is it does't move the air around the bottom 2-3 feet of the room so wear slippers or run a small desk fan to circulate the air. Also if you leave this on you don't have to worry about burning your house down or using more than 400 watts. 17 of 18 people found the following review helpful: Radiant vs. forced air, By This review is from: Eco-heater NA400S Wall-Mounted Ceramic Convection Heater (Kitchen) You must understand how RADIANT heaters work vs. forced air (fan) heaters. Radiant heaters do no waste energy heating the volume of air in a room and circulate it. It takes a tremendous amount of energy to heat the air space in a room. Radiant heaters heat the objects in front of them, not air. The temperature in the room can remain 68 degrees and you can feel perfectly comfortable in front of a radiant heater. They also do not get "hot" enough to cause immediate burns like a fireplace or electric room heaters. A small under desk panel for leg warmth ( 175 watts or so) will not do the job of a area heater (400 watts +) sometimes several are needed to cover a large area. People denigrating the radiant heater performance have probably not researched and have misguided expectations. They probably want an electric room heater with a fan. Radiant heating panels are the most energy efficient heating for comfort available. 8 of 9 people found the following review helpful: Great secondary heater, By Jess R (Summit NJ United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Eco-heater NA400S Wall-Mounted Ceramic Convection Heater (Kitchen) I originally bought one for my newborn daughter's room to help warm up the room through the winter. It works really well, especially if you pair it with the recommended thermostat. Well she's 2 1/2 now and we've since moved from that house. We brought this heater with us and reinstalled in her new room. It works just as well in the new space, and we bought a second one for our son's room. The key is to mount it on an interior wall, and to close the door to the room if possible. The children's rooms are significantly warmer when the doors are kept closed. We found it to be a great way to lower the heat at night, but not freeze out the kids. |
