5.0 out of 5 stars Incredibly Versatile Space Heater, October 19, 2009
By

This review is from: Lasko 675945 Stanley 12-Inch Ceramic Utility Heater (Kitchen)
It sounds silly, but the handle on the top of this space heater increases its portability tenfold. It's very light, and because it only takes one hand to move it around, I'm constantly switching it from the floor to an end table. The many different heat settings mean that you can be very picky about the heat blasting out at you.

Another feature that I find preferable is that it heats constantly, unlike some space heaters which practically light you on fire but come on only intermittently. This handy space heater stays at the temperature you choose the entire time. I've run this thing for 10 hours at a time with no ill effects. It lasted through last winter and is still going strong this winter. When I had the flu for a couple of weeks, I hunkered down on my couch with this on the coffee table and baked myself every single night for the entire night.

I adore this thing and I'm about to order another to keep in my office. (I live in a house that was... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Good heater despite a directional issue....., December 9, 2010
This review is from: Lasko 675945 Stanley 12-Inch Ceramic Utility Heater (Kitchen)
I bought this heater in November 2010 from another seller. I first used it in a room that did not have a carpeted floor and it provided good heat for its size although the temperature was only about 60-degrees F so it really wasn't much of a test. At the end of the month when the temperature dropped to the 40s and 30s at night, I used the heater in a rather small 15' x 13' carpeted room and almost froze until I realized this: the heater blows its heat downward toward the floor. I was about to return it for being defective until I decided to try sitting it on a small box I had. After I put it on the box, it started heating the entire room with no problem at all - even getting too hot at the highest setting. The fact that it blows downward could be a defect, but I am thinking that because this is actually a utility heater, it is made for non-carpeted rooms which helps bounce the heat around the room or keep it from igniting items directly in front of it - although I could be... 5.0 out of 5 stars Pickiest, hardest to satisfy buyer says it's a great, sturdy, handsome little soldier, September 27, 2011

This review is from: Lasko 675945 Stanley 12-Inch Ceramic Utility Heater (Kitchen)
1st it is more than powerful enough to heat the 12 X 14 room with 12' ceilings I'm using it for. It does have to be set each time you turn it on (Turn on, dial temp control up till heating element kicks on then lightly dial it back till it turns off & it will stay at a very close temp all night or day)
It's very sturdy. I can see not a piece of anything that I would predict will easily break off. It has no extraneous parts of loose or flimsy plastic. The knobs are well thought out, simple & solid. The entire body is two parts back & front that integrate to form the handle so the handle is one united piece with the body. Unless you pick it up & slam it against a wall it's not going to break & there is nothing to come loose.
It's fan only feature is a bit on the weak side but it works. The only quirk there is that you must turn the function dial to the fan icon then turn the temp control to a setting warmer than the room you're in (where it would kick on the heating element... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally!, December 31, 2007
This review is from: Lasko 751320 Ceramic Tower Heater with Remote Control (Kitchen)
Reading the other reviews of this product I realized I had to write one of my own to help potential purchases realize they will really be missing out if they bypass this heater. This is the fourth space heater I've purchased in the last two months and finally one I can keep.

My living room has three sets of glass french doors, high ceilings, and lots of windows. It is very hard to heat it, but there is no central heating system, so I have to rely on space heaters. I tried the expensive Vornado (over $100), which didn't make a dent in the cold, the noisy Honeywell oscillator (which not only gave me a headache it was so loud, but also didn't provide quite enough heat, though it heated better than the Vornado), and the WindChaser radiant heater (which left the room freezing cold but made me sweat at the same time, extremely unpleasant). Finally I found this item.

It heats the room to the point where it actually shuts off sometimes, having reached the desired 65... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Very nice heater with a remote, December 2, 2007

This review is from: Lasko 751320 Ceramic Tower Heater with Remote Control (Kitchen)
I bought one of these at Wal-Mart for $28 (their normal price is ~$42). Since it is a 1500 watt ceramic heater, it heats as well as any other ceramic heater that draws that much current, so nothing to comment about on that point. What that means is it will heat up your room, but it will take a while if it is not a small room. To be expected. Since it is not a radiant (quartz) heater, unless you stand very close, you will not feel a lot of warmth until the ambient T goes up and that will happen from the ceiling area on down.

It operates quite quietly (fan and rotation)and is not annoying. The rotation is smooth. The remote is a very nice touch and handier than I thought it would be. The LED display is bright, but located on top, so you can't see it from the front of the unit if you are seated. A design flaw, I think. The three warranty is nice. Cobstruction is pretty much all plastic, so I wonder how well the heat grates will stand up over time when the plasticizers... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Great range of control, heats well, turns itself off by temp or timer. Very good with a small complaint about the cord., November 1, 2007

I take one star away for the cord, otherwise this is a great product that heats nearly as well and as quietly as a kerosene heater of the same size.

The cord though is a genuine design flaw. It gets rather warm when plugged in and should be replaced with something a bit more heavily insulated and more abrasion resistant. One bad scratch and this thing will be waiting to explode and start a fire.

Noting the problem with the cord, I'm a bit leary of leaving this heater unattended, though I have left it with the timer on to shut itself off several times and no problems yet. As it gets older though, it's more likely to have a problem of course.

BOTTOM LINE: Great heater, though it really needs to have a heavier cord. And this is such a cheap improvement in the design that I can't figure why Lasko wouldn't have included it if for no other reason than consumer safety confidence in their product.

I recommend the heater, but add that... Read more

This review is from: Dimplex CS33116A Compact Electric Stove (Kitchen)
We've had this heater for several months and use it every night. It's used to supplement heat in a 15'x18' bedroom and heats that space up very quickly. I think the 'flame' looks quite realistic...just understand that it's not a real flame but they did a pretty good job representing a flame. The heat is blown from the bottom of the unit out to the front. The noise level is low, but the fan does stay on throughout the night whether the heat is on or off. But, we have two other Lasko ceramic room heaters and they are definitely louder than this. The thermostat function works very well. Please note, though, that the thermostat is not set by degrees. The first time you turn on the heater, you turn up the thermostat knob to the highest mark then when the room reaches the temperature you want, you turn the knob back until the heating turns off...that becomes your room heat point for the unit. It does work fine once you set it up. The remote turns the unit on and off only - no heat... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS STOVE!!, February 12, 2011

This review is from: Dimplex CS33116A Compact Electric Stove (Kitchen)
I have always wanted a fireplace in my bedroom. At the back of the house, the room get's chilly at night and, also, I love the ambiance of a fireplace. My Dimplex Electric Stove arrived two weeks ago. I read the manual, plugged it in, put the battery in the remote and there it was! An instant wood-burning stove. It is so attractive and so easily moved from room to room. Honestly, the flames look real. Even when the stove is turned off, the logs are designed to have a little glow that looks like the dying embers of a fire. There is a very quiet fan underneath that blows out the heat and when I set the temperature control, it's just right to take the chill off in the bedroom. I almost didn't buy it because of some reviewers who were not happy with the thermostat. Maybe they did not read the manual. You have to turn the temperature control knob all the way to the right, until you hear a soft click. Then you turn it counterclockwise until just the right amount of heat is coming out. It...
